Nestor Serrano is a native New Yorker whose acting career spans more than three decades. While working as a computer operator for the Bank of New York, Nestor felt he needed to make a move. Not sure of where to go or what to do, he began taking classes at Queens College. While on his way to computer science class, Nestor spotted a long line of students waiting to audition for the drama department. Interested in meeting new people, Nestor auditioned for and got the role of “Prince” in Don Peterson’s Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? That experience was enough for Nestor to make it his last semester at Queens College and his first at the famed Lee Strassberg Institute.
Nestor got his first professional break in Harold Prince’s off-Broadway musical production of Diamonds. He has over thirty off-Broadway productions to his credit. Naturally, Broadway was not far off when director Herb Ross cast Nestor in The Boys of Winter, along side Wesley Snipes, Matt Dillon and Ving Rhames. That production was followed by Cuba and His Teddy Bear, opposite Robert DeNiro. Nestor was seen back on the boards of Broadway with Patrick Stewart in The Tempest. Most recently, he made his debut on London’s West End in the Olivier nominated play Jesus Hopped the A Train, directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Nestor Serrano has been seen in some of the biggest blockbuster features, from his first role as the charmingly annoying house painter, Jose, in The Money Pit to Hangin’ with the Homeboys, Bad Boys, The Negotiator, The Insider, Bringing Out the Dead as well as Runaway Jury, starring opposite Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman, The Day After Tomorrow starring opposite Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal. More recent films include Definitely Maybe, opposite Ryan Reynolds and Rachel Weisz And Secretariat opposite Diane Lane, John Malkovich, James Cromwell and Dylan Baker.
Serrano’s film career has been augmented by constant work on television and has had series regular roles in Witchblade, True Blue, Hat Squad, and Maloney. He has also guest starred in many prime time programs including CSI Miami, ER, Law and Order, Special Victims Unit, Criminal Intent, Medium, Boston Legal, Fringe, Shark, Cold Case, The Good Wife, Burn Notice, among many others. Nestor recently played the recurring role of Victor on “90210″ and is currently filming a pilot for ABC entitled “Partners” as well as reprising his role of Nestor Ortega on CSI.
